Proposal Requirements
Your special issue proposal should include the following elements:
1. Proposed Title and Theme
A clear, concise title and comprehensive description of the special issue theme (300-500 words) explaining its significance, timeliness, and relevance to public health.
2. Scope and Objectives
Detailed description of the scope including specific topics to be covered, research questions to be addressed, and expected contribution to the field.
3. Guest Editor Information
Name(s), affiliation(s), contact information, and brief biographical sketches (150 words each) demonstrating expertise in the proposed topic. Co-guest editors are encouraged to bring diverse perspectives.
4. Potential Contributors
List of potential contributing authors (names and affiliations) who have expressed interest or whom you plan to invite. Aim for international representation and diverse methodological approaches.
5. Proposed Timeline
Suggested submission deadline and target publication date (typically 6-12 months from approval).
6. Expected Number of Articles
Estimate of manuscripts expected (typically 8-15 articles).
Guest Editor Responsibilities
- Develop and disseminate a compelling call for papers
- Invite leading researchers to contribute manuscripts
- Manage manuscript submission and review process with editorial team support
- Identify qualified peer reviewers for submitted manuscripts
- Make recommendations on manuscript acceptance or rejection based on review feedback
- Ensure timely completion of the special issue
- Write or coordinate an editorial introduction to the special issue
- Maintain ethical standards and declare any conflicts of interest
- Promote the special issue through professional networks
Note: Guest Editors receive full editorial support from JPHI staff throughout the process.
