Submit a Manuscript
Three submission routes are available, and all three reach the same editorial process. Use whichever suits the way you work.
ROUTES
The three routes
Choose one route for a manuscript and stay with it; using more than one creates duplicate records that delay the work.
- PRIMARY ROUTE
- ManuscriptZone
- ALTERNATIVE ROUTE
- Simple manuscript submission form
- ASSISTED ROUTE
- [email protected]
Authors must use only one submission route for the same manuscript.
CHOOSING
Which route suits you
The routes differ in how the submission is tracked, not in how the manuscript is assessed.
MANUSCRIPTZONE
An account-based portal with step-by-step upload, saved progress, status tracking and revision handling in one place. Best where a manuscript will go through revisions.
SIMPLE FORM
A single-page upload that needs no account. Best for a straightforward first submission; subsequent correspondence is by email.
EDITORIAL EMAIL
Write to the editorial office and send the files by return. Best where a submission needs to be discussed first, or where either portal is difficult to reach.

PREPARATION
Before you submit
The preparation requirements and limits for each accepted format are on Instructions for Authors. These are the items most often missing.
- The manuscript file, double-spaced with line and page numbers, within the word limit for its format.
- A title page with every author’s affiliation, the corresponding author’s contact details and ORCID identifiers where registered.
- An abstract with the required structure for the format, and four to six keywords.
- Figures as separate files at a minimum of 300 dpi, and tables as editable text.
- The relevant reporting checklist, and ethics approval, consent, trial registration and data-availability statements where they apply.
- Competing-interest and funding declarations for every author.
AFTER SUBMITTING
What happens next
Every manuscript follows the same route, and the criteria are the same for every author.
REVIEW
All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal’s scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review.
Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request.
Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
DECISION AND PUBLICATION
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal.
Decisions remain independent of fees, services, memberships and editorial or reviewing roles.
Accepted articles are published open access under CC BY 4.0, with copyright retained by the authors, and receive a Crossref DOI. The article processing charge is payable after acceptance and is published in full on Article Processing Charges.
