Biography:

Dr. Lori Jones is a historian of medicine and health researcher whose work spans both medical history and contemporary family medicine education research. She earned her PhD at McMaster University with a specialization in the history of medicine and has since contributed to a wide range of interdisciplinary studies. Her scholarship has evolved from historical explorations of medieval medical texts and identities to applied research addressing primary care comprehensiveness, physician career choices, and the future of family medicine in Canada.
She collaborates with prominent Canadian health systems researchers to investigate policy issues, residency training experiences, and workforce challenges affecting family physicians. Her qualitative and mixed-methods projects have been widely cited in medical education and health policy journals. At the same time, Dr. Jones remains engaged in medical humanities, contributing to the understanding of how past medical traditions influence present-day practices.
Dr. Jones’s dual expertise in health policy research and medical history positions her uniquely to bridge clinical education with historical perspectives, providing evidence-based insights into healthcare delivery, medical identity, and professional practice.
